How to D2L, pt. 8 of 10: Linking to and using Google Docs from the platform

Problem of practice

You and your students are hooked on Google docs as a great collaborative tool. How do they quickly and easily get to docs from the platform?

Solution

Insert a URL for a doc that students need to work on. Though the video doesn't discuss it, remember that you may need to include a link for EACH group's doc in your post.

Creating a dropbox gives students a space to submit assignments. Dropboxes can link directly to a gradebook; D2L notifies you of unread submissions. You can also email all users who haven't submitted anything after quickly scanning for missed items.

For news items, content, or other features like quizzes or discussions, you can attach release conditions that allow members of certain groups to view those items. See video 2 of 3 for how to create groups you want to release specific content to.

Come up with your own font conventions for headings, assignments, etc. that will allow students to quickly scan your posts.
